Wierd, Fishy & Funny Day

Today was a funny & fishy day.

Morning
  • Brought a dim sum dish of just 2 pieces of ‘shiu mai’ that costed RM2. Aunty seller claimed it to be the best-seller but found nothing special about it. Just minced meat wrapped in wanton skin
  • Sent in my roommate’s Toyota Avanza car into service centre to have the boot repair and replaced. When handing over the car key to the mechanic while walking to the car to inspect together, the mechanic led me to a Camry instead. Took me awhile to realize that the mechanic mistakenly thought I owned the Camry despite my numerous time of telling him and witnessed him written my car model in the form. Uh ok….am flattered that you thought I got the capability to own such car, though I don’t mind being the owner..hahha

    Afternoon
  • Called several leading companies to ask for charity sponsorship for the School Holiday Program that am heading. Surprised to find out that the marketing executive of a leading stationary manufacturer is my ex-classmate. Small world after all.
  • Received several phone calls asking bout whether a room in my condominium is vacant to be rented out. HUH??!! Where in the world do you get such info from?

    Evening
  • Called my roommate to tell her that I have arrived at her workplace and have her to come down. Called got through, but was answered by a man who seemed to be already talking with another person on the other end of the line. Thought he was my roommate’s colleague, answering her call on her behalf and playing prank on me. However as I kept talking, the guy didn’t seem to realize that I was talking to him. Found out that, I am the 3rd party and experienced cross line interference. Thank goodness, the conversation was not something kinky!
  • Watched Bee Movie together with roommate. Happily bought the tickets and entered cinema hall. After series of ads, movie started. Somehow the starting of the movie doesn’t look like Bee Movie at all. Double check cinema hall and our assigned seats. Oops! We were in the wrong cinema hall all this while. Hall 1 = Bee Movie. Hall 2 = Beowulf. Pai seh pai seh
  • Came back home, showered and look for a book in the living room. Something looks wrong. Aaaahhh…..the TV stand is missing. Great 1st clothing hangers are mysteriously missing (not that it’s a big deal but can be annoying when there isn’t not enough to use during laundry day). Then door frames mysteriously spoilt. Now TV stand missing. What’s next? Fridge? Kitchen sink?

Verdict at end of the day?!

Moving & Furniture Placement

It has been 2 weeks now since I last moved from middle size room to master bedroom of my house. On top of that I remembered that my hours of availability to rest at that time was well…somewhere… =S

As far as I know, moving house (particularly) or changing to new room is not anyone’s top-rated hobby or spur of the moment decision activity when waking up daily. And most of the time, reasons lying behind the purpose of moving is either due to budget, safety or security reason, upgrading (smaller to bigger room, better housemates/roommate, better housing facilities, etc).

For almost 7 years of my stay in KL, I had moved 8 times (6 = house moving related issues & 2 = changing room); 3 times were due to budget reason, 1 time was to stay together with my brother, 3 times got ‘kicked’ out by landlord/tenant who decided to cease renting out and take back for personal usage and 1 time was my intolerance to stay together with an obnoxious roommate (hailed from Kota Kinabalu!!!) who keeps thinking that she’s right and the queen in her own eccentric world.

Anyway, whenever moving into a new room, it is always dealing in planning on where to place furniture in the room…unless of course, the room comes with in-built wardrobe.. the choice of freedom in furniture arrangement is down by one. I kept receiving advises on the Do’s and Don’ts regarding where to place my furniture especially when it deals with bringing potential luck into my life. Uh eventually…I don’t see the effects (not that I actually practice or believe in any of them) and some turned out to be ridiculous reasons. =S

Here are what I been receiving on furniture placement all these years….

  • If your room is next to the bathroom, don’t place your bed against the wall that is sided at the bathroom. WHY? High potential to get rheumatism
  • Don’t place your bed by the window side….you will be exposed. (whatever this means)
  • When arranging your bed, never let it (bed head side) face the door or window. WHY? Door = Represents that you are already dead and that you are ready to enter into the next world. WINDOW = All your luck and fortune will be thrown out of the window.)
  • Place study table at a place where lighting is best situated and received (duh! Common sense, especially reading and studying requires proper lighting!!) OR nearby the window. WHY? To better receive the ‘aura’ of luck and concentration when studying…it’s the feng shui thingy. [Contradicts the bed arrangement, don’t you think?]
  • Your bed should never directly face or be reflected off on a mirror regardless the mirror’s size. WHY? Your soul/spirit will be frightened off or get ‘caught’ into the mirror. If there’s no other alternative position for the mirror, hang a cloth to cover over the mirror every night before hitting dreamland. Hhhmmm…….uh ok
  • Avoid positioning furniture in such a way that they are surrounding the bed and at the same time, it can’t be higher than the bed. WHY? When sleeping at night, it’ll trigger the unpleasant feeling of your life being constantly suppressed by negatives in life. [uh yeah…..so let’s place the bed above all other furniture and create a canopy in the room! That way….you’ll feel that you conquer aaaaalllll the negatives in life which are the furniture…whoopee! Or even better chuck every out of the bedroom, leaving only the bed in the room! Comfy & empty!]

So what kind of furniture arrangement placement do you believe and practice?!

REST...

Jess! You look so tired. Haven’t get enough hours of rest lately?

REST?! What rest?! Uh so….what is rest anyway?

I can’t remember when is the last time I had a proper rest ever since I came to KL. But I do remember my constant back to back schedules where “sleeping-hours” slot can’t even find its proper placement at all. Do I ever sleep?! Sure I do! I am a human after all. However, once I have things to do, my mind will keep thinking bout organizing and managing them here and there to the point that I ended up dreaming bout it! [Uh..this explains why I talk and giggle in my sleep occasionally?!]
Always found being restless, I remember most of the time that am often chasing after time, sleeping late and getting up at wee hours.

Collection of memories where I had heaps of things to do and rest can’t be found near me….

  • Finishing my webpage design project which screwed up technically and required rectification last min. Thanks to this unreasonable problem, experienced longest sleepless hours of 52-hours tops!
  • Catching my flights (potential Amazing Race contestant?!) Remembered couple of occasion where I just finished packing before I rushed to airport
  • Chasing after public transport rides
  • Answering long distance distress calls at odd hours
  • Squeezing out ideas and solutions to events or situation when needed and driven to the point of frustrating tears
  • Preparing my teaching lessons for either the following day or week
  • Chasing after ppl who I was forced to work together with for projects/assignments. Tormenting yet lessons and experiences gained
  • Catching up on readings and studies. So many books and articles out there!!!
  • Many other little yet important things needed to be done
  • Maintaining household chores and stuffs. (Yeah..can open up a hotel to handle housekeeping dept already….)

So what is my version of rest? Beside sleep which is a definite physical requirement to any human being, REST = setting apart a time-out moment to drop every usual activity or work, and instead doing something different for a change. Time to be alone and reflect on past’s goodness & bad and hope for better promises from Him.

My latest rest ever since I came to KL?! Morning jogs in Melbourne’s cold winter, armed with an iPod of songs and messages that smack sense of peace & refreshing thoughts to me. Call it crazy but it was a spurt of moment decision to deal my restlessness. Maybe this explains why I kept sleeping late and waking up early while in Melbourne? [Ryan…I am a late-riser, really!!! Ask my parents & Yu-Wei! Hahaa....]

We can be forever tied up in our agenda of busy-ness but is it fruitful at the end of the day? Being a restless person, I know I won’t stop until my goal is achieve but this doesn’t stop me from having my pit-stop rests in between that He wants me to have and enjoy… =)

"On the seventh day, having finished his task, God rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from his work of creation." Genesis 2:2-3

"It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones." Psalm 127:2

"I will lie down in peace and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe."Psalm 4:8

"Work for six days, and rest on the seventh. This will give your ox and your donkey a chance to rest. It will also allow the people of your household, including your slaves and visitors, to be refreshed."Exodus 23:12

What’s an ideal pit-stop rest for you?!

Finally I Started A Blog!!!

Yeah, yeah I know I know ladies & gentlemen…FINALLY! My blog site is set up after like close to 3yrs of delaying. YAY! !! *Applause! Applause!* So would like to thank my parents, brother, cousins and friends for the constant questioning of the existence of my own blog site and the encouragement to set one up. I could never have done without the help from you all! =) Uh yeah...watever....

So what’s been holding me back all these while to set up?

1st Reason = The next level of personal online e-diary creation for everyone worldwide!? No way by setting up a blog, I would want to fall into the trap of another online e-diary. Attention span can be spent elsewhere more wisely and purposefully. Rather post up items that are beneficial to readers! =)

2nd Reason = Time & maintenance. Time to set up and maintain one…hahaha….. Often my mind keeps thinking faster than what I can able to record down and later gets dissolved up somewhere in my HDD system (aka my brain). Wish there’s this device that can able to capture, record and save down your thoughts electronically and upload later. Inventors out there…wanna take up this challenge? =)

To my cousins and friends out there across the globe, hope this blogsite helps to connect us back again after all the missed years. Cheers!!!
